The United States Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco acquired a Lockheed HC-130H Hercules turboprop in 1960. The large, fast, high-capacity aircraft was ideal for long-range maritime patrol and rescue operations. See more Coast Guard history in our exhibition, “United States Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco Honoring the Guardians of the Golden Gate 75th”, located pre-security, in the Aviation Museum and Library. The Aviation Museum and Library is open from Sunday through Friday, 10am to 4:30pm.
