In 1938, Pan American Airways’ Pacific base was established in Treasure Island. The take off and landings for their trans-Pacific routes would fly over San Francisco. This amazing photo of the Martin M-130 China Clipper flying boat was captured in 1938 on the west side of the San Francisco Bay looking west to San Francisco.
