This unusual style of beckoning cat comes from the Hanamaki kilns in northern Japan. Covered with subtle glazed ornamentation, its head is slightly tilted and it grasps a ball in its right paw in a playful gesture. This exhibition was made possible by a generous loan from @mingeimuseum. "Maneki Neko: Japanese Beckoning Cat" is on display post-security, in Terminal 2. http://bit.ly/BeckoningCats This image was posted on April 21, 2018.
