San Francisco International Airport’s International Terminal officially opened to the public on December 10, 2000. The largest public works project in Northern California at the time, the leader of the Joint Venture Architects group, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, envisioned the International Terminal would become the signature structure of SFO. With 24 additional gates and 2.5 million square feet, the International Terminal doubled the overall passenger terminal square footage. #52Objects #InternationalTerminal #SFOHistory #SFOMuseum 📸: photograph: San Francisco International Airport (SFO), International Terminal construction; 1999 Gift of Edith Lauterbach 2006.028.176.008 https://collection.sfomuseum.org/objects/1762832617/ This image was posted on December 11, 2023.
