While Harold Bixby worked at the China National Aviation Corporation, the company placed a high priority on expanding the airline’s fleet to include larger, more modern aircraft. Thanks to Bixby and the support of Pan American Airways, CNAC acquired a number of Douglas DC-2s, one of the most advanced airliner designs of the time. These planes carried fourteen passengers one thousand miles at over two hundred miles per hour. “Unlocking an Archival Treasure: The Harold Bixby Collection” is on display in the Aviation Museum and Library. Located pre-security in the International Terminal, the Aviation Museum and Library is open daily from 10am to 4:30pm. https://bit.ly/Bixby-Collection 📸CNAC Douglas DC-2s at Longhua Airfield, Shanghai 1937 photograph Collection of SFO Museum 2019.121.0122 R2023.1301.006 This image was posted on July 29, 2024.
