#Onthisday in 1935, Amelia Earhart departed from Honolulu, HI bound for Oakland, CA. After traveling 2,400 miles over an 18-hour flight, she landed at Oakland Airport. With this historic flight, she became the first person to fly solo to the United States mainland from Hawai’i. This was not her first record setting flight, as she was the first person after Charles Lindbergh to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, in 1932. This image was posted on January 11, 2022.
