Happy Birthday, United Airlines! Varney Air Lines, one of the four companies that merged to create United Air Lines in 1931, began operations #onthisday in 1926. The other three founding companies were National Air Transport, Pacific Air Transport, and Boeing Air Transport. By 1934, all four subsidiaries had been fully absorbed into a single company operating as United Air Lines, which became the major carrier on the San Francisco–Chicago–New York route known as the “Main Line.” This image was posted on April 06, 2022.
