#OnThisDay in 1960, Pan American World Airways received their first Douglas DC-8, the "Clipper Mandarin", registry number N803PA. Pan American received 19 of the 25 aircraft they had ordered, all of which were DC-8-32, an intercontinental version of the aircraft. Pan American's DC-8-32s were in service until 1971.
