The first Boeing 747SP (Special Performance), the Clipper Young America, was delivered to Pan American World Airways #onthisday in 1976. It was a shorter, faster version of the 747. At the time of production, the 747SP had the longest range for a commercial aircraft, up to 7,500 miles nonstop.
