#OnThisDay in 1927, Charles Lindbergh landed his Ryan NYP "Spirit of St. Louis" at Mills Field. San Francisco celebrated the the famous aviator by declaring the day “Lindbergh Day”, throwing a parade on Market Street, and hosting a reception at the Civic Center. A special enclosure was installed at Mills Field for his airplane.
