The eight-passenger Fokker F-VIIa/3m inaugurated Pan American Airways’ first scheduled passenger flight on January 16, 1928. Flying from Key West, Florida, to Havana, Cuba, the three-engine plane made the 90-mile trip in just under 90 minutes. This flight opened the global air service that Pan Am would soon develop throughout the Caribbean to South America and across the Pacific and the Atlantic.
