Pan American Airways inaugurated its first scheduled passenger flight on January 16, 1928, with an eight-passenger Fokker F.VIIa/3m. Flying from Key West, Florida, to Havana, Cuba, the three-engine plane made the 90-mile trip in just under 90 minutes. The one-way fare was $50 or $743 now.
