What’s happening at the museum? We’re hard at work preparing for an upcoming exhibition celebrating the centennial of @SFOpera. Featuring 10 costumes, our preparators have created mannequins that specially fit each costume. #SFOperaCentennial#BehindTheScenes#sneakpeekThis tweet was posted on November 02, 2022.
Some of the final objects to be reinstalled are model aircraft suspended from the ceiling. Our preparators took great care in re-hanging models of the Pan Am Clipper (a Sikorsky S-42) and the China Clipper (a Martin M-130).

What’s happening at the museum? Last week, we posted about our conservator-approved non-woven material, Fosshape, for our upcoming piña lace exhibition. Our preparators have create these displays and used this material to lay the delicate fabric.

What’s going on at the museum? Our conservator is cleaning a few objects for our upcoming exhibition "The Victorian Papered Wall". Here, we pack a slide rule into a foam-lined tray using foam blocks and sheets, tissue paper, and metal pins – which are all saved and reused for other packing jobs.
