Celebrated Oakland-born Chinese American artist Dong Kingman (1911-2000) was a master of watercolor landscape paintings. Among his many career achievements, Kingman painted for the WPA in the late 1930s, worked as a map artist for the U.S. military during World War II, and designed and illustrated backdrops for films in the 1950s and 60s. In the 1970s and 80s, his watercolor paintings of famous landmarks and cities around the world graced the covers of Pan American’s first and business class menus. menu: Pan American World Airways; 1986 Gift of the Pan Am Association 2000.058.1136 a b https://bit.ly/3DkygiA
