Fred McDowell’s version of “You Got to Move,” featured on this album, gained widespread recognition after the Rolling Stones covered the song on their 1971 album “Sticky Fingers.” Royalties from the song eventually garnered a significant sum for both McDowell and Chris Strachwitz’s Tradition Music Company, his song publishing wing, thanks largely to the Rolling Stones putting McDowell’s name as composer on the label of their record.
