In the early days of aviation, barnstorming was a popular entertainment event. Stunt pilots and aerialists would perform tricks including wing walking and playing sports. This postcard shows two people attempting to play tennis on the wings of a biplane in flight and reads "Ivan Unger and Gladys Roy playing tennis on wings of airplane in flight, c. 1925" on the back. Known for her wing walking, Gladys Roy was a popular barnstormer and aviatrix in the 1920s. Image: Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, Ivan Unger and Gladys Roy, postcard, late 1920s. Gift of the Captain John B.
