The modern-day Coast Guard was formed In 1915 by merging the U.S. Life Saving Service with the Revenue Cutter Service and placing it under the Department of the Treasury. The following year, Coast Guard aviation officially commenced. 2016 will mark one hundred years of Coast Guard aviation. The photography exhibition "United States Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco: Honoring the Guardians of the Golden Gate 75th" is on display pre-security, in the Aviation Museum and Library in the International Terminal. The Aviation Museum and Library is open from Sunday through Friday, 10am to 4:30pm.
