A Pan American Douglas DC-7 soars over San Francisco in the 1950s. This plane, the Clipper Flora Temple, is named after a clipper merchant ship destroyed in 1860, and is also the name of an earlier Pan American airplane, a Lockheed L-049 Constellation.
