#OnThisDay in 1946, the first Lockheed 049 Constellation was delivered to Pan American World Airways. Nine days later, Pan Am opened North Atlantic Constellation service to Europe. Though TWA received their Constellations first, Pan American beat TWA to start Constellation service; TWA's service started on February 5, 1946.
