#OnThisDay in 1959, Qantas’ first jet service departed from Sydney Airport destined for San Francisco. The City of Canberra, a Boeing 707 with the registration number VH-EBC, made its first transpacific journey on July 29, 1959, departing from Sydney at 4:00 pm. It stopped at Nadi, Fiji, and in Honolulu before arriving at SFO, with a total flying time of 14 hours and 57 minutes. #SFOHistory This special event program from the inaugural jet flight from Sydney to SFO in 1959 was given as a gift to SFO Museum by Qantas last year when they resumed service to San Francisco International Airport.
