On this day in 1954, the dedication ceremony for SFO's new Airport Terminal Building (later the Central Terminal, now Terminal 2) was kicked off. The celebration lasted three days. Accompanying the dedication ceremony were forty three aircraft on exhibition for crowds numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Among the many planes on display was the double-decker Pan American Boeing 377 "Strato Clipper," one of the most advanced and luxurious airliners at the time. negative: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) 1954 Gift of William T.
