A United Air Lines brochure from circa 1936 asks passengers "So you're going to travel by air?" It answers various passenger questions such as "How does it feel to fly?" United's answer, "There is no sensation of great speed in a United plane even though your trip is unbelievably fast. The country seemingly unrolls smoothly, slowly under you. Your flight officers in their own compartment are kept constantly in touch with such mundane affairs as the weather by radio telephone. A directive radio beam marks the airway course; beacon lights point like giant fingers; you drift off to sleep feeling that you're touching shoulders with the stars!"
