Before the jet bridge, passengers would board planes from ground level using rolling stairs regardless of the heat, rain, snow, or wind on the airfield. This photo from 1938 features passengers waiting just inside the newly completed 1937 passenger terminal building at SFO. Off in the distance, South San Francisco's classic Sign Hill was accompanied by another sign exhorting the population to “Enjoy Acme Beer.” #ThrowbackThursday #TBT #SFOHistory #SFHistory #BayAreaHistory San Francisco Airport, Administration Building 1939 SFO Museum Collection 1997.52.078.002
