#OnThisDay in 1946, #PhilippineAirlines became the first Asian airline to cross the Pacific Ocean. A DC-4 flew the non-scheduled flight from Manila to Oakland, CA, took 41 hours and stopped at Guam, Kwajalein, and Honolulu. Scheduled service from Manila to SF would commence later that year in December. Image: Philippine Air Lines postcard, early 1950s. Gift of Thomas G. Dragges.2015.166.1276
