For the unique sound on “Reber-Rouser,” #DuaneEddy played his guitar through a DeArmond tremolo effect and a high-powered Magnatone amplifier, and the guitar track was fed into a speaker and microphone installed in a 2000-gallon water tank as an echo chamber. #InstrumentalSurf

Although #DuaneEddy’s Gretsch 6120 guitar played well, it was heavy and the electrical system was prone to feedback. He retired the guitar after an appearance on American Bandstand and a few other live performances. #InstrumentalSurf

#DuaneEddy is one of the first and most influential #instrumentalrock ’n’ roll guitarists. Eddy made his breakthrough playing a Gretsch 6120 guitar in 1958 when he scored a No. 6 hit on the Billboard charts with “Rebel-Rouser.” #InstrumentalSurf
