Last week, the flag carrier of Japan, Japan Air Lines (JAL) celebrated 70 years of service at San Francisco International Airport. Only three years after its formation, on February 2, 1954, with its new Douglas DC-6B City of Tokyo, JAL inaugurated trans-pacific service from Tokyo to San Francisco, via Wake Island and Honolulu. The entire journey took 23 hours. Presently, a direct flight from SFO to Tokyo is about 11 and a half hours. poster: Japan Air Lines, Japan; 1980s Gift of Japan Airlines 2015.030.045 https://ow.ly/3Elk50QzsvY This image was posted on February 08, 2024.
