Before any objects go on display, they receive a thorough inspection from our conservator. Our upcoming exhibition, celebrating the centennial of San Francisco Opera, features ten costumes from various operas, including this Tannhäuser costume worn by Peter Seiffert in 2007. Fun fact: that heavy-looking chainmail sleeve is actually made of lightweight plastic! Stay tuned for more behind the scenes content from the museum!
