#OnThisDay in 1959, an American Airlines Boeing 707 took off from Los Angeles to New York. Landing at Idlewild, now known as John F. Kennedy International Airport, the Boeing 707 completed the first scheduled nonstop intracontinental jet passenger service. A round-trip in first class ticket in 1959 cost $352.50 – or $3,388.89 in today’s dollars!
