Universal released the Creature from the Black Lagoon in 1954, and quickly followed it up with two sequels. It was the first film to feature underwater scenes in 3-D. The underwater scenes were filmed in Wakulla Springs, Florida. Ex-Marine Ben Chapman played the Gill Man above water while Florida State student Ricou Browning performed the underwater scenes. This prop from the Revenge of the Creature, the sequel to the Creature from the Black Lagoon, is featured in our Classic Monsters exhibition in Terminal Two.
