The flight deck on a Pan American Airways Boeing 314 provided enormous amounts of space for the operation and navigation of the aircraft, by today’s standards. The deck had room for five crewmembers including the captain and first officer, navigator, radio operator, and flight engineer. The cockpit measured 21 feet by 9 feet with a ceiling over 6 feet high.
