With airport planners projecting annual passenger traffic at SFO to reach 23 million, a series of design, engineering, and construction projects were proposed during the late 1960s and early ‘70s. In 1973, a comprehensive master plan to meet the demand was approved. A new master plan was undertaken in the 1990s to create the International Terminal Complex, which opened in 2000. It completed the circular configuration of SFO. Last year, 50 million passengers were served throughout our four terminals. #SFOHistory #ThrowbackThursday Presentation of an SFO Master Plan 1968 SFO Museum Collection 2011.032.1692
