This year Austrian Airlines turns 60. Austria traces its commercial air transport origins back to 1923 with the establishment of ÖLAG (Österreichische Luftverkehrs AG, or Austrian Airlines). The modern Austrian Airlines celebrates its birth on September 30, 1957 when Air Austria and Austrian Airways merged.
