On March 11, 1993, the first Airbus A321 took off on its maiden flight. The bigger sister of the A320, the A321 fuselage was longer by 6.94m (22ft 9in). When introduced, the A321-100 did not have the range expected by airlines. The heavier and longer-range A321-200, illustrated here in a 2018 advertisement from Delta Airlines, allowed for US transcontinental range with a full passenger load.
