A multi-culutral exhibition illsutrating bread as a major element in the life of all peoples. Celebration breads, folklore, and sculpture will be featured along with the San Francisco tradition of sourdough breads and the recent phenomenon of small baking companies. The exibition will include trenches, the bread that served as plates in medieval times; the chapatis and the nan of anient and contemporary Inidanl the sang-gak, of the Mid West; shrak, the staple of Jordan; the steamed ming-bao of Asia; the pan de muerto of Mexico, and the festive ginger breads of European tradition.
