Story Cloths of Bali See all the exhibitions.

This nonaviation exhibition was on display between April 2001 and June 2002 in the D-05 Central South Connector gallery, located in Terminal 2

These embroidered story cloths depict characters, scenes, and symbols from the two great Indian epics, the "Ramayana" and the "Mahabharata," which are very popular and cherished in Bali. The cloths, which are hung from the eaves of Balinese Hindu temples and village buildings during religious holidays and ritual ceremonies, or used as a part of offerings on outdoor family shrines or altars, were embroidered by women from Balinese villages between 1935 and 1985.
