Platform Shoes - History - 60’s Fashion - Today See all the exhibitions.

This nonaviation exhibition was on display between July 1998 and April 1999 in the B-04 Entrance Lobby B gallery, located in South Terminal

An exhibition of platform shoes from 1940-1970 designed as fashion statements and sculpture, from the collection of Ray Ellsworth, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Platform shoes have been around as part of dancers' costumes for many decades, but have been popular among consumers only periodically. They were widely accepted in the 1940s, and frequently encountered again in the 1960s and now, in the 1990s.
