Wisdom is often not the result of great design or action, but the result of chance. In the infinite search of wisdom, neophytes as well as trained philosophers and scholars understand the patterns reveal hidden assumptions and systems that comment on our relationship with objects in our world. Book, held in private or public collections, are symbols of wisdom and knowledge. By using ordinary items like books, Nina Katchadourian's Sorted Books takes a poetic look at how isolated patterns within a system can reveal hidden insight about ourselves and the world around us.
