Designed in Blue: San Francisco Historic Police Uniforms See all the exhibitions.

This photography exhibition was on display between May 2002 and August 2002 in the F-03 Gate 76 gallery, located in Terminal 3

The San Francisco Police Department was established in 1849 amid the turmoil of the California gold rush. Its small, thirty-man force went without an official uniform until 1856. "Designed in Blue" presents the innovations in San Francisco Police uniform designs throughout the history of the department in settings ranging from studio portraits to sports and band group photographs.
