Wondrous Wood: Art and Craft in Bali and Java See all the exhibitions.

This nonaviation exhibition was on display between December 2002 and June 2003 in the A-02 International South Cases gallery, located in International Terminal

Mahogany and sandalwood are used to create humans, animals, and mythic creatures, the subjects of traditional and modern wood carvings from Bali. These carvings, made with a combination of flat and curved knives and a wooden mallet or hammer, can take up to four years to complete depending upon the complexity of the subject that often includes creatures from Hindu-Buddhist mythology.
