    In 1986, USAir, driven by other mergers taking place in the aviation industry, (Western airlines was purchased by Delta Air Lines and AirCal was bought by American Airlines) acquired PSA.     By the mid-1960s, PSA had grown substantially and was flying record numbers of passengers.     In 1949, Kenny Friedkin, a flight trainer and test pilot, formed Pacific Southwest Airlines or PSA.
