Born into a family of cabinetmakers from Germany, Anthony Kimbel (1822–95) came to the United States in the 1840s. Around 1862, Kimbel began working with French-born Joseph Cabus (1824–98). The duo began making Modern Gothic furnishings in the 1870s. #VictorianPedestals
