In a time when most airline passengers were men, Clara Adams was one of the most well-known passengers aboard aircraft in the early 20th century. A wealthy widow, she was able to take part in some of the most important flights in aviation history. Here she is with other passengers waiting to board the inaugural flight of the Hawaii Clipper in 1936. Depicted left to right: R.F.
