Seventeen photographs from the Western North Carolina Petroglyph and Pictograph Survey depict prehistoric and historic rock art of the region. "Drawing on Rocks" offers insight into the world of prehistoric petroglyphs (rock carving), pictographs (pigments applied to rock surfaces), and historic carvings in the mountains and foothills of North and South Carolina that spans approximately 4000 years.
