Crowning Achievements: Hats and Headcoverings See all the exhibitions.

This nonaviation exhibition was on display between August 1992 and December 1992 in the F-02 North Connector gallery, located in North Terminal

Hats and headgear are examined as adrtifact, fashion and history. Native American headdresses, African hats, medieval armor, and historic fashion combine with hats that typify a profession, hats and helmets for protection, hats of famous persons, and the array of fanciful hats in fashion. Hat boxes, hat molds, hats as sculpture and hats in paintings are included in the exhibition. The exhibition features pieces from collections of the Lowie Museum of Anthropology, The Oakland Museum, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and Jody Shields, author of "Hats, Stylish History and Collector's Guide."
