Minerals and Gemstones See all the exhibitions.

This nonaviation exhibition was on display between June 2001 and December 2001 in the A-02 International South Cases gallery, located in International Terminal

Over 3,000 mineral species have been found, but only about twenty of the most common make up most of the Earth's crust. Gems and carvings are usually only cut from the highest quality specimens of any given mineral species. "Minerals and Gemstones" includes specimens from as nearby as Santa Clara County, California, and from as far away as outer space. In between are jade from China, citrine from India, smoky quartz from Japan, agate from Mexico, amethyst from Brazil, and malachite from Zaire.
