Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933), best known for leaded glass lamps and stained glass panels, was the leading American interpreter of the European curvilinear style known as art nouveau. He developed a stype of iridescent glass called "favrile," from which he created estraordinary vases, and paperweights or reactive glass, with which he decorated opalescent grounds with natural forms of every description. From the outstanding Tiffany collection of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
