Arthur Putnam (1873-1930) was a San Francisco sculptor known primarily for bronze animals and human figures. His sculpture and architectural ornaments adorned many buildings as San Francisco rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake. Selected subjects in this exhibition from the collection of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco will be represented by bronze sculptures as well as maquettes, plaster molds, and unpatinated bronzes to demonstrate the sculpture process.
