The Great Japanese Metal Arts: From Swords to Ploughshares See all the exhibitions.
This nonaviation exhibition was on display between August 2001 and January 2002 in the G-02 International North Cases gallery, located in International Terminal
When the samurai's patronage of metalsmiths ceased in 1868, some craftsmen accustomed to creating armor transferred their knowledge and skill to the decorative arts. The objects in "The Great Japanese Metal Arts" range from swords and armor to household items, primarily from the collections of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. The exhibition commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the peace treaty between the United States of America and Japan.
